Flooding in Meyerland

Overnight rains have caused severe damage to homes in some areas of Meyerland. Reports are coming in from the entire neighborhood of homes that took on water overnight. For many homes and residents, this is the first time they have experienced floods like this.

If your home was invaded by flood waters, please review the press release from Harris County Flood Control District that was issued today (May 26, 2015) on how to safely deal with the flood water damage and clean up.

One of the most important tips is regarding re-entry of the home: Use a flashlight to survey the damage.  DO NOT use matches or electrical switches.

Additionally, Harris County residents are urged to report house flooding by completing a Flood Survey as soon as possible at the Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management’s website at

The MCIA office is closed today, due to flooding in the area.

Change to 2015 Assessments

At the December board meeting, the board passed the budget for the 2015 fiscal year. One notable change was an increase of the security contract Meyerland has with Precinct 5. The cost amount per household will be $237.17, up from $226.00. The rise in cost is due to the County’s 5% contract price increase.

Please note that the annual assessment invoices will therefore not be mailed to residents for a few weeks. We appreciate your patience. Holiday Safety Reminders

We are all excited about the upcoming holiday season. Looking around the community one can already see the holiday decorating. As the season quickly approaches, Here are a few safety reminders.

Please remember to turn on your exterior lights at night. This is for your safety and for the safety of your neighbors. Not only do you light the pathway to your house, you deter crime by lighting up darker parts of your home that may provide  cover for criminals.

Second, remember that this is a very busy time for criminals who watch for delivery trucks. If you purchase items online, consider having the delivery companies hold your packages at their facilities until you are able to retrieve them, or track your shipment to know when the package will arrive so you can be home to receive it. You might also consider shipping it to a location (such as your work address) to ensure that your delivery is made.
