Deed Restrictions and Policies

Are there any restrictions on adding to the footprint of a home?

Yes.  Meyerland has a 60% lot coverage policy regarding impervious coverage that may not be exceeded.  This calculation includes your home, garage, driveway, walk leading to the home, pool and patio.  There are also restrictions if you live in the 100-year flood plain.  Consult an experienced contractor for additional assistance.

Can I have a garage sale?

No.  There is a policy against holding any garage, yard or estate sales.

Are there City Ordinances about barking dogs

The City of Houston does have an noise ordinance that addresses barking dogs and you neighbor can be cited for allowing it to continue, but that will not resolve the problem.  The best first option is to speak with yout neighbor and politely inform them that the barking is disturbing you and your family and ask for help in resolving the isssue.

Are there rules about dog owners cleaning up after their dogs?

Yes, there is a City Ordinance that requires owners to remove waste deposited by their dogs on property that they do not own.  Each violation is punishable by a fine of $75 to $500.

What can be done about a home in need of maintenance?
