MCIA Committees

Meyerland Community Improvement Association uses committees to accomplish much of the work that is done in Meyerland.  Many committees are standing committees that are established in the by-laws, but ad hoc committees can be established by the Board President when a special project or need arises. Members of these committees are primarily board members, but residents can serve on any committee when there is interest and need.

Below is a list of the current MCIA Committes, their roles and current members.  The MCIA Board President and Immediate Past President serve as members of all committees. 

Finance & Budget - Reviews the preliminary budget documents, makes adjustments if necessary, and then recommends a final budget for presentation to the Board no later than January. Election - Prepare for the annual elections to be held in March. The committee reviews procedures, recommends changes and acts in official capacities during the elections.

Nominating - At least four (4) members of the Association to recognize and recruit board members within the neighborhood, recommends appointment of officers of the Association.

Image & Flood - Ensures the maintenance of Meyerland’s common space, esplanade areas, and landscaping. Committee investigates new possibilities for improving the overall look of the neighborhood.

Programs & Community Relations - Assists the President in organizing the Annual Meeting, neighborhood activities (e.g., Afternoon in the Park), and other matters of general interest to the residents.

Traffic & Security

Security: Coordinates matters to monitor security issues on behalf of the Association, and reports security information to the Board. 

Traffic: Considers citizen concerns regarding traffic and parking on neighborhood streets, serves as a forum to investigate and develop neighborhood traffic education and safety programs.

Deed Restriction Compliance - Oversees the enforcement and preservation of the restrictions affecting the property applicable to such sections.

Meyerland Action Priorities Committee - Represents the Community in the political arena. Works with the board to determine appropriate course action to further the interests of Meyerland.

Deed Restriction Renewal - Work on preserving, improving through unifying and extending current deed restrictions of each section within the subdivision.

By-laws and Policy
Shall annually review the Bylaws and policies and make recommendations for changes to the Board.

Publications -
Responsible for managing the newsletter publication, overseeing the MCIA web page, including securing and monitoring the content. The publications committee shall be Chaired by the Editor(s) of the Meyerlander and the MCIA Website

Human Resources - Develops and oversees hiring practices, compensation policies and job evaluation procedures for MCIA staff.

Ad Hoc Review and Control Committee (RCC) - The RCC has the authority and responsibility to interpret and to approve or disapprove all exterior improvement plans for properties located in Sections 1, 7c, 8i and 8d
